What is PNB?

Philippine National Bank (PNB) was established by the Government of the Philippines in 1916 and was instrumental in the country’s economic development and agricultural modernization programs.

PNB was fully privatized in 2007 and since then, it has become the fourth largest commercial bank in the country with a network of more than 670 branches and 1,500 automated teller machines nationwide.

The bank offers a wide range of products and services, including savings and checking accounts, loans, credit cards, foreign exchange, asset management, trade finance, investment products, and remittances. Currently, PNB has a presence in 71 international branches and remittance centers across the world.

Credit card PNB, how does it work?

PNB credit card allows you to borrow money from the bank up to a certain limit in order to purchase items or withdraw cash. You can use your PNB credit card at any store that accepts Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, and other PNB co-branded cards domestically and internationally.

You can also use your card to withdraw cash from ATMs through cash advance programs. Be aware that you will be charged a fee for withdrawing cash with your credit card, and this amount will be added to your balance.

When you use your credit card to make a purchase, PNB pays the vendor for you. You then have to pay PNB back over time with interest. The minimum repayment required each month will be detailed on your monthly statement. Make sure to stay within your credit limit and repay your monthly dues on time to keep your credit score healthy.

How to apply for credit card PNB?

Applying for a PNB credit card is easy and can be done in a few simple steps:

  • Fill up the application form and submit the required documents;
    • which include your identity proof, address proof, and income proof.
  • You can then apply for the card online or visit your nearest PNB branch.

Requirements

General Requirements:

  • Must be a Filipino citizen or a Philippine resident

  • Must be 21-65 years old

  • Must be a regular employee for at least one year

  • For self-employed applicants, the business must be profitable for at least 2 years.

  • Must have a yearly gross income of PHP120,000.

Documentary Requirements:

  • Valid government-issued ID with photo and signature

  • Driver’s License

  • Passport

  • UMID

  • SSS

  • Company ID issued by companies or institutions registered wit SEC, BSP, or IC.

  • For employed applicants (any of the following):

  • Certificate of Employment

  • Latest income tax return

  • Latest payslips (3 months)

  • For self-employed applicants (any of the following):

  • Latest audited financial statements

  • Latest income tax return

  • DTI or SEC registration certificate

How to check for an application status?

Checking on the PNB credit card application status for a PNB credit card can be done in two ways:

  1. Call the bank's hotline and inquire about the status of the application. Follow the prompt and select the following options:

    • Select Option 4 (Other PNB Credit Cards)
    • Select Sub-option 4 (Other Credit Card Services)
    • Select Option 2 (Application Status)
  2. Go to the PNB Internet Banking online portal and click on the Credit Card Application Status Inquiry. You will have to enter your Reference Number, Date of Birth, and ID number.

Keep in mind that your PNB credit card status may change at any time, so check back often for updates.

Can I make an online application?

Yes, you can apply for credit card PNB online. Go to PNB Cards website and click on “Apply for a PNB Credit Card Online.” You will then be directed to the Credit Card Application site.

Select “New Credit Card Application” and choose the credit card you wish to apply for. Click on “Apply Now.”  Accept the Terms and Agreement and fill up the online application for credit card PNB. Upload the required documents and submit the application.

How to activate the credit card PNB?

Once your PNB credit card application is approved and the physical card is mailed to you, you will need to activate the card before using it.

There are two ways to activate your PNB credit card:

  • Text PNB<space>ACTIVATE<space>16-digit credit card number and send to 22566808.

Example: PNB ACTIVATE 5678123456781278.

  • Call the PNB Customer Service Hotline at (+632) 8818-9818 or the domestic toll-free hotline at 1800-10-818-9818. Follow the prompts and select card activation.

Once activated, you can then start using your PNB credit card for all your shopping needs.

How to cancel the credit card PNB?

If you are looking to cancel your PNB credit card, you must first pay off your credit card balance in full. You can contact PMB customer service and request for cancellation.

How long does it take for credit card PNB to arrive?

Upon submission of your complete application form and documents, it takes 10-15 business days for PNB to process, approve, and send out the credit card via mail.

How to transfer money to the credit card PNB?

To be able to transfer money to your credit card you will have to access to PNB Digital Banking here, After accesing you will have to follow the next steps:

  • Go to the Menu bar and select TRANSFER FUNDS
  • Choose the method and type the information from the account you're going to do the transfer from.
  • Choose the account that is going to receive the transfer.
  • Type the amount and details of the transfer.
  • You'll be prompt to confirm and type your PIN that is sent to your mobile phone.

PNB credit card limit

A credit card limit is the maximum amount of money that PNB will allow a customer to borrow at any one time. The limit is usually determined by the customer's credit score and overall borrowing history. Most credit cards come with a minimum limit of around PHP10,000-15,000 for basic cards. Gold and platinum cards have significantly higher credit limits and are usually issued to high earners.

Interest rate and fees

The interest rate for a PNB credit card can vary depending on the type of card you have, but for most PNB credit cards, the monthly interest rate is 2% (or an annual percentage rate of 24%). The interest on the PNB Ze-Lo Mastercard is 1.88%. This means that if you carry a balance on your card from month to month, you will be charged an interest rate on the amount you owe.

Apart from the interest, you may be charged with fees depending on the transactions you make. Here are some of the fees:

  • Account maintenance fee: PHP 200 (USD 4) or the amount equivalent to the credit card balance, whichever is lower

  • Cash advance fee: PHP 200  (USD 4)

  • Overlimit fee: PHP 500 or USD 10

  • Late payment fee: PHP 1,000 (USD 20) or the minimum amount due, whichever is lower. This applies to all PNB credit cards except the PNB Ze-Lo Mastercard.

PNB credit card annual fees vary depending on the type of PNB credit card. They can be anywhere from PHP 300 to PHP 3,000. Some cards have no annual fees.

How to make a balance inquiry?

To make a PNB credit card balance inquiry, you can call the PNB customer service hotline at (+632) 8818-9818. You can also view your credit card balance through PNB Digital app.

You can also access your electronic statement of account (eSOA) via the PNB Internet banking site. It will show how much money you have left on your credit card and as well as the list of transactions in chronological order. This will help you keep track of your expenses and make sure that you're not going over your budget.
