What is RCBC?

The Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) is one of the leading banks in the Philippines. It is a commercial bank that offers a wide range of banking products and services to retail and corporate customers. Some of the products and services offered by RCBC include deposits, loans, credit cards, investment banking, and remittances. The bank has a network of over 444 branches and 2,492 ATMs across the country.

Credit card RCBC, how does it work?

RCBC credit card allows you to purchase items from merchants or withdraw cash at ATMs. You are essentially borrowing money from RCBC that you’ll have to pay back with interest. The amount of money that you can borrow is based on your credit limit. You will need to make at least minimum monthly payments on the balance until it's paid off.

When you use your RCBC credit card responsibly and you pay off your debt on time, it can be a way to build up your credit history, which can be helpful when you want to borrow money for a home or car in the future.

How to apply for credit card RCBC?

RCBC offers a variety of credit cards to its customers, each with unique benefits and features. You can apply for a credit card through the bank's website or by visiting an RCBC branch near you.

The application process is simple and only takes a few minutes to complete. You will need to fill out an application form. You will be asked to provide some personal information, such as your name, address, and date of birth, as well as information about your income and employment status. This information is used to determine your credit limit and eligibility for the card. You will then be asked to submit  the required documents.

You can also apply for a secured credit card RCBC regardless of your past credit history. You just have to open a savings account. What makes the RCBC Secured Credit Card unique is that your credit limit is based on the amount you deposit into your card account. This means that you are guaranteed to have a credit limit that’s within your budget. And since you’re using your own money as collateral, there’s no need to worry about being approved for a high limit. It’s essentially 100% approved.

Requirements

  • You must be a Filipino citizen or a Philippine resident for at least two years.

  • You must be 21-65 years old at the time of the application. Supplementary cardholders must be 13-65 years old.

  • You must have a valid landline and a mobile phone number.

  • Your minimum gross annual income must be PHP250,000.

  • You must provide proof of identity. Accepted IDs with photo and signature are UMID, passport, and driver’s license.

  • You must provide proof of income.

For employees:

  • Latest income tax return (ITR) or W2 with BIR or bank stamp

  • Latest payslip

  • Original certificate of employment with salary details, signed by authorized personnel.

  • Latest bank statement (with latest salary credit)

For self-employed:

  • Latest audited financial statement

  • Latest ITR with BIR or bank stamp

  • Latest bank statement with sales receipts or cash credits for the month

How to check for an application status?

You can check your RCBC credit card application status by calling the RCBC Credit Card Hotline at (+632) 8888 1888. Alternatively, you can email customer service at email@service.rcbcbankard.com.

Can I make an online application?

Yes. If you're interested in applying for an RCBC credit card, you can do so online. Just go the RCBC Bankard website and click “Apply Now.”

The RCBC credit card online application process is simple and straightforward. You just need to choose the RCBC credit card you wish to apply for and then fill up the online application form, upload the required documents, and submit.

How to activate the credit card RCBC?

Once you receive your RCBC Bankard credit card, you must first activate it before using it. There are three RCBC credit card activation options:

  1. Via SMS. Send the last 6 digits of your RCBC credit card to 0919-169-0402. Make sure to use the mobile number you indicated in your application.

  1. Via RCBC Bankard Hotlines:

How to cancel the credit card RCBC?

Should you decide to cancel your RCBC credit card, you must give the bank a notice of request through snail mail, e-mail, or phone call. If you wish to cancel over the phone, you must call the customer service hotline and speak with a representative. They will ask for your name, credit card number, and the reason for cancellation.

But before you cancel your credit card, you must first pay your outstanding obligations, including the unbilled balance. Once you've canceled the card, be sure to destroy it by cutting it up or shredding it. This will ensure that no one can use it without your permission.

How long does it take for credit card RCBC to arrive?

Once you've submitted your credit card application to RCBC, it will be reviewed by RCBC's credit department. The processing, approval, and delivery of your credit card can take 7 to 10 banking days.

How to transfer money to the credit card RCBC?

RCBC uses the option of balance transfer, which is based on paying your installments on the RCBC credit card by doing an automatic transfer from your debit account.

In case you want to do a manual transfer you will need to take the next steps: 

  • Login to RCBC Online Bank here.
  • Go to the option TRANSFER FUNDS.
  • You'll be prompt to write the details of the transfer, you can add details from other sources.
  • Confirm the transfer.

Credit card limit

An RCBC credit card has a limit that is set depending on the cardholder's credit score and credit history. The default credit limit is PHP 5,000 but it can be increased or decreased at the bank's discretion, depending on how the account is being used. Generally, the maximum credit limit for high earners and customers with excellent credit scores is significantly higher.

Interest rate and fees

The monthly interest rate for RCBC credit cards is 2% while the retail monthly effective interest rate for installment purchases is at 2.03%.

Aside from interest rate, RCBC credit card charges other fees depending on your transaction. Some of the fees include the following:

  • RCBC Credit Card Cash Advance Fee – PHP 200 (or USD 4)

  • Late Payment Fee – PHP 850 (or USD 17) or the minimum amount due, whichever is lower.

  • Over Limit Fee – PHP 600 (USD 12). This is charged once you go over your credit limit.

  • Balance Transfer or Balance Conversion Processing Fee –  PHP 250

  • First year Membership Fee is waived.

You can view your credit card balances as well as your total Rewards points. Just download the app, create an account, sign in, and check your card balances.

Register or log on to the RCBC Bankard Online to manage your credit cards and access information about recent transactions. You can also enroll for electronic statement of account if you want to go paperless.

How to pay RCBC credit card via GCash?

You can also pay your credit card bills using the GCash app:

  1. Download the GCash app and register.

  2. Sign-in to the app.

  3. From the GCash dashboard, tap “Pay Bills.”

  4. Select Credit Cards from the Biller Categories.

  5. Select Bankard MC/Visa/JCB.

  6. Input your 16-digit RCBC credit card number, amount to pay, and e-mail address.

  7. Tap Confirm.

You will get a notification via SMS and a payment receipt via email.
